Introducing New Organic Priorat Wines from Mas Igneus

The leading producer of organic wines in the Priorat DOQ, Mas Igneus was founded in 1997 by brothers Josep Maria & Toni of Albet i Noya. They were the first organic project to begin producing wine in the region, and in 2004, the current modern winery was built and Toni Albet became the sole owner.

While the steep slopes make weed control difficult, the Priorat’s soils and climate make it an ideal candidate for organic viticulture: The low rainfall, low humidity, high temperatures and good ventilation make fungal diseases very rare. Today, Toni tends the vines and oversees the winemaking with the help of his son, Adria. They manage three separate and distinct parcels comprising 11 hectares of vineyards across the steep slopes of Priorat.

“Renéixer” Blanc (Merlot/Garnacha Blanca/Garnacha) Priorat DOQ - 2017

Bright golden color. Fresh white flower aromas, with notes of canned fruits. Fresh and intense on the palate, with medium length. Vibrant acidity that will keep the wine fresh.

“Renéixer” Negre (Garnacha/Cabernet Sauvignon/Carinyena/Syrah) - Priorat DOQ - 2016

On the nose, violet flowers & ripe red fruit dominate & the fresh varietal aromas of Grenache are very present. Light tannin. Fresh, elegant wine with character.
